The quick answer
The advertised price is the same either way. Spectrum sets it, and it does not change with the channel you buy through. Service, billing and installation are Spectrum’s on both routes too. What differs is the help before the order: with an authorized retailer, a person checks your address, prices the bundle with you and places the order for you. Spectrum pays the retailer a commission when you sign up, and nothing is added to your monthly rate. If you would rather handle it all yourself online, ordering direct is a sound choice.
What does not change
Order through us or straight from Spectrum, and all of this is identical:
- Price. Spectrum sets the monthly rate, how long the promotion lasts, the standard rate that follows it and any fees. An authorized retailer cannot charge you more than Spectrum’s advertised rate, and it cannot charge less.
- Billing. The bill is Spectrum’s, and you pay Spectrum directly rather than us. Once the order is in, your payment details stay between you and Spectrum.
- Installation. Spectrum books the appointment and does the work. A self-install with the Express Connect Kit and a professional technician visit are both Spectrum’s service, with Spectrum’s equipment.
- Equipment. Your modem, router and any TV box are Spectrum’s, on the same terms a direct order gets.
- Support after sign-up. Technical problems, billing questions and service changes all go to Spectrum, as they would after a direct order. Once the order is placed and confirmed, our part is done.
- Promotions. The current offers, including the free mobile service, the Savings Guarantee and the TV Contract Buyout, are open to you through an authorized retailer as well as direct. The exception is the occasional online-only deal, covered below.
What does change
Nearly all of the difference comes before the order is placed:
- A person on the phone. Ordering with us means calling (877) 543-8021. Whoever answers checks your exact address, sets the bundle options next to each other and places the order while you are still on the line. That helps if you have questions, want someone else to work the numbers, or are unsure which speed suits your household.
- A coverage map, not a marketing map. Our ZIP search reads the FCC’s Broadband Data Collection, the coverage providers file themselves. It lists the providers filed at your ZIP, Spectrum among them where it is filed, and shows how much of the ZIP each one reaches beside its top speed.
- The rate after the promotion. We say plainly that promotional prices end, and wherever Spectrum publishes the regular rate, we show it next to the promotional one. Month 13 should hold no surprises.
How AZ Wireless is paid
When an order placed through our phone line is activated, Spectrum pays us a commission. The money comes from Spectrum, not from you, and it has no effect on your monthly rate. No provider pays us to appear higher in our ZIP results.
The fair question is whether a commission tempts us to steer you toward a bigger plan. We do not think it should, and in practice it does not work that way, because the wrong plan does us no good. A household that buys too much, cancels early or has a poor experience does not come back and does not send anyone our way. A plan that fits is the result that serves everyone, us included.
So we will not pretend we have nothing riding on your decision. We do, and now you know exactly what it is, so you can weigh it.
When to go direct instead
Sometimes spectrum.com is the better route, and we would rather you hear that from us:
- An online-only offer. Now and then Spectrum runs a deal that is only available when you sign up online. It is not common, but it happens. If spectrum.com shows a price that differs from ours, check whether it is one of those before you choose.
- You want to do it all yourself. Some people would simply rather skip the phone call, and that is a perfectly good reason. Spectrum’s direct channel is simple and works well.
- Your mind is already made up. If you have done the research, know your address qualifies, picked a plan and only need to press “order”, the online checkout is quick.
We will not tell you a retailer is always the answer. If talking it through would help, call us. If it would not, order direct.
Warning signs on third-party sites
Plenty of websites offer Spectrum plans, and not all of them behave the way an authorized retailer should. Slow down if you see any of these:
- A price that does not match spectrum.com. Authorized retailers quote Spectrum’s advertised residential rates. A site showing a far lower price with no explanation deserves caution, because no legitimate channel can sell below Spectrum’s published rate.
- A site that calls itself “official”, or Spectrum. Authorized retailers are independent by definition. A site that implies it is Spectrum, or leaves out the independent-retailer disclosure, is not being straight about what it is.
- A form that wants your details before it shows availability. Our ZIP search asks for five digits and nothing else. It reads the FCC coverage filings, and orders are placed by phone.
- Made-up prices, testimonials or statistics. We do not invent any of them. Our prices come from Spectrum’s advertised offers, and our coverage figures from FCC filings.
We are independent of Charter Communications, and that independence is what lets us answer plainly whether Spectrum is right for your address. We are not Spectrum, so we can tell you when it is not.
A short list for the call
If you decide to order with us, the call goes quicker with a few things close at hand:
- The full service address: street and number, not only the ZIP. Spectrum confirms service at the address itself, which is why we start there.
- Your latest bills: for the Savings Guarantee, your current Internet and mobile statements make the comparison quick to run.
- How many mobile lines you want: one, two or more changes which bundle fits best.
- Any TV contract you are in: if there is one, ask about the TV Contract Buyout (up to $500 with qualifying TV + Internet packages).
None of this has to be settled before you dial; working it out is what the call is for. You can reach us at (877) 543-8021.
Check your address with us first, then decide.
