Home phone

One number for the house, still worth having.

Nationwide calling, a 911 call that carries your service address, spam blocking and a bill that barely moves. Digital voice runs over your internet connection and your home’s power, so in an outage it — and a 911 call on it — stops working unless there is battery backup.

How we compare Home Phone

Cheaper than a mobile line, and easier to add than most people expect.

Today’s home phone usually rides your broadband as digital voice and costs less than one mobile line. It suits homes with weak cell signal, relatives who prefer a handset on the wall, and alarm or medical-alert equipment that still wants a line.

A line that stays put

Digital voice from established providers, with voicemail, caller ID and call blocking included on most plans.

Unlimited nationwide

Calling across the U.S. is standard. Some plans add Canada, Mexico and U.S. territories.

Bring your number

Moving a number is usually routine. Keep the old service on until the move completes — and let us check first, because not every number can move between carriers or areas.

One bill with internet

Adding a line to internet or TV from the same provider can lengthen a price guarantee.

What getting connected involves

From the street to the shelf

Two line workers in bucket trucks at a utility pole
The line to the property
Status lights glowing on the front of a wireless router
The equipment indoors
Two people on a blue sofa, each working on a laptop
Everything running at once

Our checklist

Three things to settle first

The questions a good salesperson answers before you ask. We answer them on every order.

Talk it through
  1. 1
    Standalone or with internet?

Some providers sell home phone only alongside internet. We tell you which kind is on offer at your address.

  2. 2
What happens in a power cut?

Digital voice needs electricity and a working connection. If that matters in your home, ask about battery backup.

  3. 3
    Do you call abroad?

Base plans cover the U.S. International calling is usually a small monthly add-on.

Good to know

Home Phone questions, answered.

Can I keep my phone number?

In most cases, yes. The new provider moves the number during activation. We check it can move before the order goes in.

Is home phone the same as a mobile plan?

No. This page covers home lines and digital voice. Cell plans are on the Mobile page.

Can I get a home phone without internet?

Sometimes. Many providers only sell digital voice with internet, and a few still offer a standalone line in some areas. Your address decides.

Are you the phone company?

No. AZ Wireless compares providers and, for the ones we sell, places the order. The provider delivers the service and supports it.

Call us and we will use your number to deal with that inquiry, and pass it to the provider if you place an order. Automated calls and marketing texts need your separate say-so, which an agent asks for on the call. Consent is not a condition of purchase. See our TCPA Consent.
